Truly unspolit place with natural beauty!

We came here over 15 years ago In my opinion it is the most tranquil and picturesque place we have been to . We stayed in Villa Elofansi, there is another along side called villa Livadia similar to Villa Elofanisi. There are now boutique villas too. Villa Elafanisi is perched ontop of a hill overlooking the lovely sea. There is a bar within walking distance of the villas which sell amazing crepes and lovely breakfasts made by Mike who is so helpful .
If you want to to recharge your batteries this is the place for you.
The sunsets are amazing, only a small amount of light pollution to watch the stars is something else.
Nothing is too much trouble for the owners, they even chat to you at the bar .
As other reviews have said it is rocky but there are lots of places you can find to swim around, some places are very private. If you like sand you can go to Elonfansi beach but beware it is very crowded.
There is a small mini market around 15mins drive away, we did our shopping on the way before we arrived.
Sometimes people have reservations about going back to a place a second time but we did’nt ,we thought it was even better and plan to return a third time.
If you want to experience genuine Cretan hospitality this place is for you.

The day after I had a booked I received a message from Manos (booking agent) with lots of information regarding the property, collection of the keys and car hire discount with Voyager Car Hire. This was followed up by an email regarding things to do, restaurants locally and in the main city of Chania and the number for Lefteris (the owner of the property) for collection of the keys.

We arrived at Chania airport at 6:30am and was greeted by staff from Voyager Car Hire who had parked our hire car outside, so did not have to go looking for it. We left the airport and headed to the main city of Chania where we had some breakfast as our checkin time at the Villa was not until 2pm. We arrived at Elafonisi at 12pm (it is approximately a 2 hour drive) and could not immediately find the Villa. We parked near a restaurant and called Lefteris, who was more than happy to come and take us to the villa. He arrived within 5 mins and took us to the Villa despite arriving earlier than scheduled.

The Villa was splendid. It was very clean and had a great view of the ocean. Lefteris showed us around, showed us how the TV and A/C worked and provided us with the password for the wifi. He had also provided some coffee, sugar, cream, bread, honey, local mountain tea, butter, eggs and jam!! This was more than expected and certainly a welcome surprise.

Lefteris was in contact daily to ensure everything was OK with us and that all our needs were being met. What a lovely host as most do not even contact you at any time during your stay. He even called to ask when would like our sheets changed and the villa cleaned. Towels and bedding are provided, along with some toiletries. Bathing towels also provided for the swimming pool.

Closest ATM (Cash Machine) is 40 mins drive in Kissamos (not a fault of the property to be fair), but take enough cash as although most restaurants and shops do take debit and credit cards, some do not and the ability to take this payment method very much depends on the internet connection!

Just when you think you have seen all the best of Crete, and suddenly end up in this corner of the island, you realize that until now you have missed the best. Beautifully located on the hill, right over the sea, this is the diamond of all accommodations I’ve ever seen. Gorgeus villas, all with their different character and design, modern but still traditional, fully equipped with private pools – making you feel you’re in paradise.
